13-08-2014 after Robin Williams' death despite my best efforts not to sully his his profound passing with words, not to mark him with this pathetic offering of love and rage...
And the world is out of balance- more than 100 generations could shift-
and it has tipped us into war and grief.
Our brightest souls die
on the battlefield- unsurprised, innocent, betrayed.
The ones firing the bullets
don't notice- order us forward-
but we, comrades in arms,
are pierced to the core.
There is no rest, there is nowhere to go.
We move, like marauding ants- volunteers and conscripts alike-
blackening the earth
with our short lives.
Your death has unplugged
my heart- all hope, joy and grief
emptying me out.
